How to download

The Home Edition of Cardbox is a free download, about 14MB in size. To download, press the button below.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer will ask you whether you want to run the file insthome.exe or save it. We recommend that you choose "Run", because it's simplest.

Once you have chosen "Run", the file will be downloaded and Internet Explorer will ask you again whether you want to run it. Choose "Run", and the installation will begin.

Firefox

Firefox will ask you if you want to save the file insthome.exe. Choose "Save File". The Downloads window will open, showing you the progress of the download.

When the download is complete, an entry for insthome.exe will appear at the top of the Downloads window. Double-click on it.

Depending on your security settings, Firefox may ask you to confirm that you want to launch the executable file. Choose "OK".

Finally, it will ask you if you really want to run the downloaded file. Choose "Run", and the installation will begin.

How to install

Follow the instructions given on the screen. You will be asked to agree to the licence agreement (you can print it out first if you want) and to say where you want Cardbox to be installed - unless you have strong opinions about this, accept the location that the installer suggests.

Getting started

When you first open it, Cardbox will present you with a blank screen. This can be rather daunting. Here is what we suggest:

• Use File > Open > Samples to open a sample database.
• Use Help > Getting Started to view the "Getting Started" document. It's 30 pages, and well worth printing out and reading. It will make your life with Cardbox easier and more confident right from the start.
• Download or order the complete manual, The Cardbox Book: 300 pages of explanation and inspiration, in full colour.
• Cardbox Help is very thorough. Don't hesitate to use the Help menu, the Help buttons wherever they appear, and, always and everywhere, the F1 key.
